Dog,

While many pets enter animal shelves in relatively good health, there are some that are found in gloomy alleys and are saved right during the time period. Partly thanks to your support, a shelter was able to help two pets in such life -threatening circumstances this year.

Florence Area Humane Society (FAHS) in South Carolina received a call this spring about several cats that had been fighting for themselves since their older owner died in his home. Unfortunately, animal control also became aware of the situation and reacted first and lumped the cats in with a social treasure program that catches, neuter and then releases cats back where they were found.

The rescue says: “Cats had only become indoor pets. Fahs, in collaboration with a local cat draft, put traps, but only four cats were recovered. Emmet was thin and very scared. He was immediately monitored and is now in a fetal home. He found the tunnel a good place to feel sure when he adjusted to his new life.”

The care received was made possible as part of your clicks, trivia participation, shopping for a case and direct donations. Your support allows us to work with our charitable partner greater good charities to get important supplies such as food, vaccines and bedding for shelters in need, but also comforting things like toys and tunnels.

Comfort was also needed for Alice who were caught in a trap. She had been there without food or water for two days when she was finally rescued by FAHS and animal control staff. As they examined Alice, however, they realized that being caught had been the least of her problems.

Fahs says, “When we removed her from the trap, she was visibly wounded and could not use one of her forelegs. [Animal control] transported her to Florence Animal Hospital, where radiographs showed that Alice had been shot in the leg and crushed the bone. Unfortunately, the leg could not be saved and FAHs authorized surgery to remove the leg. Alice is in fetus recovery and is now ready for a loving home! “

Your support ensured that these pets came out of dangerous situations and are now safe, healthy and improvement. If you would like to continue contributing supplies to shelters so that they can nurture more animals such as Emmet and Alice, click below!
