Freezing Prep Tip

  • Use freezer bags when you can. Place them flat to save space, and then stand them vertically when frozen for light “meal archiving” in the freezer.
  • Feel everything. Write the recipe name, date and cooking instructions right on the bag so you don’t have to dig around later and try to remember what’s inside. (Click here for the E book that includes labels!)
  • Freeze in parts. If you do not need a meal throughout the family size every time, divide into two smaller bags when you freeze them. That way you only thaw what you need.

Remaining storage tips

  • Refrigerator Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Gently heat on the oven or in the microwave.
  • Freezer storage: Most of these meals can also be frozen again after cooking. Allow residues to cool completely, then store in freezer-secure containers for up to 2 months.
  • Resuscitation of residues: Add a splash of chickenbuljong, beefbuljong or even water when you reheat to freshen up things and keep the meat tender.
  • Sub -control: I love freezing residues in containers with a single series for light lunch packages later. They make a great grab-and-go opportunity on busy days.
  • Toppings are your friend: Fresh toppings such as cheese, herbs, green onions or cream fraiche bring leftovers back to life and make them feel brand new.
